We intended to surprise our modeler friends with an ‘unusual’ model in our catalog of wooden naval modeling kits. We’re sure that we have achieved it. We present The Indian Girl Canoe model (19000) at 1:16 scale. It is a fantastic, detailed and faithful reduced wooden replica of the Amerindian canoe created in 1902 by the builder J.H. Rushton. It is one of the typical boats that we have seen for many decades in the Far West movies, used by both the North American Indians themselves and the settlers. The naval modeling kit with the The Indian Girl Canoe model contains all the parts you need to build the faithful miniature replica. HISTORY OF THE MOST POWERFUL SHIP OF THE LINE IN THE WORLD, THE ONLY ONE THAT REMAINS AS IT WAS

Today, it is on dock in the port of Portsmouth (Hampshire) in England as a museum piece. The English ship HMS Victory remains the flagship of the Second Lord of the Sea. It is even more important because it is the only ship of the line that has survived to this day in conditions faithful to the originals.

HMS Victory was launched in 1765. The rest of the works such as the rigging, the sails and the armament were progressively completed until in 1778 the ship of the line could be in active service.

Two years after being assigned to command HMS Victory, vice admiral Horatio Nelson participated in the Battle of Trafalgar. The most decisive of the Napoleonic Wars. It was the one that put an end to the French and Spanish navies. The United Kingdom would assume a maritime supremacy that would last until the Second World War.

However, Nelson did not have the opportunity to learn of his victory. He died during the battle in the course of a close combat with the Redoutable, a large French ship with 74 guns. From the tops of the Redoutable, a marksman then reached Nelson.

A LITTLE HISTORY OF THE SPANISH SHIP OF THE LINE SANTISIMA TRINIDAD

Launched in 1769, the Santisima Trinidad was one of the few four-decker ships of the line that existed. Despite this, it was not very effective due to its clumsy and slow navigation. Above all, its tragic end in the Battle of Trafalgar (October 21st, 1805) is remembered. On that occasion it was under the orders of the squad leader Baltasar Hidalgo de Cisneros, and with Francisco Javier de Uriarte y Borja as flag captain. After a tough fight, it was captured by the English in very bad conditions, with more than 200 dead and 100 wounded. The English put all their efforts into saving it and taking it to the English port of Gibraltar, being towed by the frigates HMS Naiad and HMS Phoebe. However, it would finally sink on October 24th about 25 or 26 miles south of Cádiz.

It now remains at the bottom of the sea. Its artillery parts were extracted and installed at the entrance to the Pantheon of Illustrious Sailors located in the Navy Non-Commissioned Officers School, in San Fernando (Cádiz). As a radiant novelty for 2022, we are excited to present you the new and limited edition of Trafalgar 1805 Santa Ana model ship (22905-N) at 1:84 scale, the faithful replica in miniature of the Spanish line ship with 112 cannons launched in the last quarter of the nineteenth century. And most importantly, an essential vessel in the Battle of Trafalgar between the Bristish Royal Navy and the Spanish Armada at the beginning of the following century. The renewed wooden naval modeling kit of the famous Spanish ship of the line Santa Ana at 1:84 scale was the prototype of a series of 8 identical vessels that would constitute the nerve of the Armada. The modeler will be able to find in this new limited edition of the kit hundreds of high quality parts such as strips, rods and sheets of solid wood and plywood of basswood cut by a precision laser. Once Santa Ana model ship (22905-N) is built, it measures 46.45” (1180 mm) length, 34.25” (870 mm) height and 18.11” (460 mm) width. Its design by means of false keel and frames brings its assembly closer to that of the real vessel. And how to assemble it? The modelers and 3D designers who work at Artesania Latina have redesigned all the old instructions. Colour arrives to the Spanish ship of the 18th century! Now, you will be able to appreciate the different assembly steps much more clearly. Languages? Spanish, French, Italian, English, German, Dutch and Russian.

The wooden ship model kit has an instructions DVD for computer (Windows and Mac). Clearing step-by-step photos, as well as demonstrative videos with some of the most important steps. In short, built at the Ferrol Shipyards and launched in 1784, the Santa Ana was the first of a series of three-deck ships called the Meregildos. Captained by José Gardoqui, he intervened in the Battle of Trafalgar inflicting heavy punishment on the English ship Royal Sovereign. Attacked by several English ships, he was captured and later saved by the Rayo, Montañés and San Justo, who towed him to Cádiz in the middle of the night. He would end up sinking in Havana, where he had been sent to prevent Napoleon’s troops from capturing him.
