This faithful scale model of the fishing boat was dedicated to bonito/tuna fishing during the summer months, the rest of the time it was dedicated to catching other species or fishing in other areas following the seasonal migration of other bonito species. The traditional fishing methods for these tuna fishers are trolling and live bait. This live bait method was made possible by using small fish caught by the bonito fisherman himself with a small purse seine net, keeping them alive on board in tanks.
