Fishing Ship Model in Wood (II): New Miniature Replicas and Rest of the Catalog

We continue on this post showing our modelers friends each fishing ship model in wood from our catalog. On this time, we are going to talk about the new modeling kits of this type of boat that Artesanía Latina has created for 2022 and the best sellers. On the previous publication, we left it in the fishing boat models for amateurs with at least an intermediate level of skills and knowledge. We go on, then, with that degree of difficulty in the construction of the miniature replicas with one of the two novelties of this year. FISHING SHIP MODEL IN WOOD: FRENCH TUNA BOAT MARIE JEANNE

How beautiful! Artesanía Latina modeling team has done a great job to present this year that is almost about to finish one of our novelties. They have completely redesigned the wooden fishing ship model of Marie Jeanne tuna boat (22175), the traditional 1:50 scale French boat that currently delights fans of naval modeling. We have exponentially improved its assembly experience, being friendlier, thanks also to its high-quality parts. Regarding the contents of the ship modeling kit with the fishing ship model Marie Jeanne, which has sailed since 1900 until 1950, these have the highest quality standards. We are almost finishing a year 2022 full of surprises. We have created new wooden ship models, innovative tools and we have reissued and improved numerous naval classics from our collection of naval modeling. For many years, there have been several models that we have not been able to manufacture but that have always been in our minds to sell them again. Our modelers friends demanded it that way. This is the case of the latest addition to our extensive catalogue: the renewed Harvey Model Ship (22416) in wood and at 1:60 scale.

Another great modeling kit made by Artesania Latina, this time, with the fabulous American schooner of the 19th century. It is aimed at modelers with at least an intermediate level of skills and knowledge on this wonderful hobby. Below these lines you can watch the presentation of the faithful miniature replica of the Harvey thanks to a spectacular video.

CONTENTS HARVEY MODEL SHIP: WOODEN MODEL BUILDING KIT

This wonderful wooden model ship of the Harvey, a 19th-century American schooner, has eight cannons and extremely fine details on deck. This gives greater weapons power to this historic American boat. It is a clearly reminiscent of the lines of the old coastal schooners of the 1860s in the United States. Of course, modeling at Christmas! What better date to give your loved ones a wooden model of any of our historical boats and aircrafts. And to build some of those fantastic scale models too! It is true that now are days for the reunion with family and friends, but it is no less true that we also have those moments of peace that allow us to dedicate ourselves to our beloved hobby.

Those mornings, afternoons and nights wearing our pyjamas that we stay at home between the different celebrations, we are intoxicated by the spirit of Christmas and our passion for modeling. Almost no external noise because the streets are calm. We feel in a little bubble as we assemble a miniature naval or air replica. And … why not some nice ambient music to liven up? We, the modelers, know that not everything at these parties is being surrounded by people, eating and drinking. Also, there is a time for our relationship ‘as a couple’ with our model. Merry Christmas!

A WISH FOR PEACE AND HAPPINESS FOR OUR MODELIST FRIENDS

Artesania Latina wants to wish you a happy and enjoyable parties, no matter where you are. Whether the modeler lives in a distant nation or is a neighbor. Likewise, we see it very necessary to thank you for all the trust and support that you have given us for 51 years now … almost 52! Galleon Model Kit San Francisco II: Know its Secrets with this Beautiful 1/50 Scale Wooden Section

Galleons appeared in the middle of the 16th century thanks to the Spanish Armada. For 150 years, they were the warships and transport par excellence. HMS Endeavour Ship Model: 2021 Renewed Naval Modeling Kit for Modelers Intermediate Level

It was one of Artesania Latina scale models preferred by our modeling friends for decades. Now it will be again! Our team of 3D designers and modelers had the task of renovating the 1/65 scale HMS Endeavour ship model. They knew the importance of this faithful British naval replica. For all this, we are proud to present your new 2021 modeling kit, totally improved and adapted to the demands of these times.

The iconic British exploration and research vessel – formerly a coal boat – with which Captain James Cook discovered Australia can now be built again. The HMS Endeavour naval modeling kit, an 18th century boat, aimed at modelers with an advanced skill level, can be assembled like the real ship at your own workshop. This is due to the fact that the actual construction system of the ship using false keel and frames is the one that has been adopted for the model itself.

The 1/65 scale wooden ship model of the HMS Endeavour has been completely redesigned. Our team has reliably relied on all the existing information about the ship. Target? Make the miniature as similar as possible to the ship that sailed the South Seas. Below we highlight all the improvements made, one by one.

HMS ENDEAVOUR SHIP MODEL: HIGH QUALITY LASER CUT WOOD PARTS WITH EASY LACE

The first thing any modeler looks at as soon as he opens a naval modeling kit is the quality of the wooden parts. The structure that holds the scale model firm is essential along with the parts that cover it.

Well, the parts of the HMS Endeavour ship model are made of high-quality birch and linden wood, as well as the seven oak veneers – to complete the hull – and, also, linden. This new HMS Endeavour ship model has much more realistic finishes compared to the old one, now discontinued. Meticulousness would be the noun with which they have been thought and reflected in its photo-etched and die-cast details.

Its photo-etched plate contains parts that replace some of the previous model, now they are much finer and more elegant. But also other totally new ones, “thus helping the modeler during the assembly”, comment our modelers. Both types give spectacular finishes to this jewel of naval modeling.

Among others, the improvements made in photo-etched parts focus on the windows, base, horizontal capstan, chains, gratings and lifeboats.

The transom windows and the rear side windows -both before made of die cast opaque-, the skylight -before nonexistent- and the fishing lights now have a more elaborate design. PRE INSTALLATION FOR SPECTACULAR LED LIGHTING IN WINDOWS

On the new ship model of the British vessel HMS Endeavour we have developed a system for the pre-installation of LED lighting. “Small supports have been added in different rooms of the ship such as the aft cabins, under the skylight and inside the fishing lights”, the 3D designer specifies.

The modeler friend who wishes can attach LED lights in order to make the scale model of the ship comes to life.

In this way, the modeler can access to the on / off switch whenever he wants, as well as change the batteries when they are exhausted.

The latest photo-etched improvements are the lifeboats. The modeler only has to choose and apply the appropriate paints on these to achieve an immense quality of finish.

Paddle Steamer Model in Wood: New King of the Mississippi 1/80 Has Already Come to Life

One of the scale models most desired by Artesania Latina friends has returned in 2021 with a renewed appearance and many improvements. The new King of the Mississippi paddle steamer model in wood, 1/80 scale, is a jewel of naval modeling. Next, we are going to detail all the novelties that this fantastic and classic steamboat model incorporates.

The 3D redesign and assembly process has been painstakingly developed over months by Artesania Latina designers and modelers. In this way, the miniature replica of the King of the Mississippi can be built very pleasantly.

FUNNY AND PRECISE ASSEMBLY OF WOODEN PADDLE STEAMER MODEL

Among the improvements made, excellent step-by-step color instructions have been created, more elaborate than ever, in DVD format. We continue with the ribbon that adorns the ceiling of the service chamber, the exterior railings and the capitals. They have been made much more stylized than the previous ones. The contrast of colors of these parts in white with the colors, dyes and varnishes used on floors and walls of the rest of the ship is spectacular.

IMPROVEMENTS OF FUNNELS AND TURBINE, NOW MOBILE!

Other improvements applied to the new King of the Mississippi paddle steamer model made of wood are the funnels and the turbine. As for the former, the scale model has been designed so that if the modeler wants he can, on his own, make the funnels emit smoke. They are hollow.

Find an electronic smoke dispenser – not included in this modeling kit – and attach it to the steamboat model. As the service chamber is ‘detachable’, whenever it deems appropriate it will be able to access the interior of the cabin. There the bases of the funnels are housed to recharge the liquid tank that creates the smoke.

And what about the dazzling new mobile turbine, a dream come true! Our team greatly appreciated the ability to move the blades to recreate the motion of the turbine that pushes the real ship. Thought, planned and done. A system was devised that “allows a small engine to be attached to the stern wall and transmit power to the turbine by means of a rubber band and a pulley”, points out the model maker of the project.

The entire set of aft wall + turbine supports + turbine is practicable. The modeler can thus access the interior and make adjustments to the motor or the rubber band. How do all Micro Moulding Scrapers / Micro Shapers work? Exactly, these small model building tools have to be used passing them over the wooden or plastic strip several times until they can achieve the desired effect. Of course, previously it is recommended to use a sandpaper on the material that is going to work to suppress burrs, roughness or small irregularities. MICRO SAWS (27302) FOR PRECISION CUTS IN WOOD, PLASTIC AND RESIN

Also made of stainless steel and presented in high quality photo-etched, the Micro Saws is a kit that also belongs to the small model building tools collection Micro Tools. It is essential for any modeler or crafts fan who needs to make precision cuts, for example, in wood, plastic and resin. Any part that needs to be cut, and if it is even smaller, has now the right tool: our Micro Saws.

The best thing about this set of saws is that it does not come with one or two, but six micro saws for wood and plastic. It also has a scriber and twoapplicators for cyanoacrylate (glue).

The scriber is used, above all, in plastic models, to make decorative lines or stripes: airplanes, boats, cars, etc. On the other hand, with the two cyanoacrylate applicators, you can paste any scale model parts or any manual work with extreme precision.

MICRO RULERS (27325): SMALL MODEL BUILDING TOOLS

The Micro Drawing Set or Micro Rulers Set is designed expressly for modelers and manufactured in stainless steel. It has rules, triangles and parallel ruler, all of these very useful to build models when taking accurate measurements in small dimensions.

The two malleable rulers (one of 1.96’’/50 mm and one of 3.93’’/100 mm), with metric and imperial systems, that brings the pack are perfect to even measure model curved parts. The modeler can fold them when needed and then put them back on its natural position. They can not only serve for the model maker, but also for any crafts fan.

Naval Modeling for Beginners: Initiation Wooden Ship Models (II)

We continue with the article we left last week about naval modeling for beginners. In other words, we continue to show the large number of wooden ship models for beginners in the Artesania Latina catalog. In this way, the future modeler will know which models he wants to build.

NAVAL MODELING FOR BEGINNERS: FISHING SHIP MODEL LA PROVENÇALE (19017-N)

What do we offer as a eighth proposal of a ship model for the new model makers that start on this hobby? The 1/20 scale model of the French Côte d’Azur fishing ship called the La Provençale. Once the model is finished, it is 12’’ (305 mm) length, 13.18” (335 mm) height and 3.93’’ (100 mm) width. The tenth selection of a wooden ship model for the new modelers is Juan Sebastian Elcano’s lifeboat, Spanish Navy sailboat schooner and school ship. The 1/35 scale model, once finished, is 11.02’’ (280 mm) length, 3.54’’ (90 mm) height and 3.62’’ (92 mm) width. This boat was called thus by the Spanish explorer Juan Sebastian Elcano, captain of the expedition – after Fernando de Magallanes death -, who completed the first round the world in 1522. Launched in 1927 in Cadiz.

During its maiden voyage between Southampton and New York it collided with an iceberg and sank in the icy waters off the coast of Newfoundland.

Initiation to Naval Modeling: Wooden Ship Models for Beginners

Many times, beginners on ship modeling go to Artesania Latina to guide them when it comes the moment to build their first wooden ship models. We are going to show on these two posts the initiation to naval modeling with the products that a new ship modeler can create from our catalog.

WOODEN SHIP MODEL: SAN JUAN NEPOMUCENO CAPTAIN’S BOAT (18010)

We start with the wooden model of San Juan Nepomuceno captain’s boat for its construction. This boat belonged to the line ship of the 74-cannon line, and we present its 1/25 scale miniature. From the 17th century, it would be part of the well-known Battle of Trafalgar, which Spaniards lost against English navy with Churruca in command, so it was towed and exposed in Gibraltar. Anyone who boarded the ship and entered the captain’s cabin should discover the head as a sign of absolute respect, showing the great relevance of the aforementioned ship.

This fabulous wooden ship model of San Juan Nepomuceno captain’s boat is built very similar to the real boat thanks to its design using a false keel and frames. We continue with the renewed wooden ship model at 1/75 scale of the Viking ship. This scale model was the pioneer made by Artesania Latina’s and it was aimed to beginners modelers two decades ago. But now we have redesigned it with the latest 3D techniques! Viking is a scale model with history. Not only is it designed for newbies, but also for those expert ship modelers who want to enjoy building a really beautiful and emblematic ship model.

The Viking ship modeling kit includes all the parts of its hull cut by laser on top-quality linden board, wooden and metal decorations (like the two dragon heads), pre-stitched sail ready to be placed, and a stand and a plate. Our third proposition for beginners modelers is the Jolly boat wooden model of the great British ship of the 18th century HMS Bounty. Precisely, William Bligh fled with 18 loyal sailors after the riot of his crew on this small boat. In 1787 the HMS Bounty frigate left for the Caribbean in order to transport breadfruit, but the fatal climatic conditions forced them to land in Haiti, where many of the English sailors mixed with the island natives.

Its building system by means of false keel and frames, like the great majority of the scale models of Artesania Latina’s ships, brings its design closer to that of the real ship. The fourth option for assembly aimed at novice modelers is the wooden model of the French fishing boat –it was fishing scallops- called Bon Retour, at 1/25 scale, which was used until 1980. Built in 1952 at the shipyards Tertu du Fret, in 1982 Guy Le Cornec undertook its restoration. Currently, the TUD AR MOR association manages the ship with the objective of preserving marine culture.

WOODEN FISHING SHIP MODEL SAINT MALO (19010-N)

The sixth proposal is Saint Malo: it is a type of boat called Doris, and specifically this is French. The 1/20 scale wooden model of this fishing ship, from Canadian origin and from the end of the 19th century, is dedicated to catching cod in Newfoundland banks. It was used to fish long ago in Massachusetts and New Scotland, being introduced in France, Spain and Portugal later. Because of their solvency and solidity, of being cheap and their ease of stowage, the Doris continued to be used as workboats on sailboats and many other motor boats.

It is another fantastic wooden ship model for new modelers to start on this beautiful hobby. Like everyone else, its simple construction system and its simple sail make it easy to assemble, it is beautiful the Saint Malo model ship kit. WOODEN SHIP MODEL FOR BEGINNERS: SANTISIMA TRINIDAD CAPTAIN’S BOAT (19014)

The sixth alternative for those fans who intend to start in the ship modeling hobby is the 1/50 scale wooden ship model of Santisima Trinidad captain’s boat for its construction. Once finished, the scale model is 14.96’’ (380 mm) length, 3.35’’ (85 mm) width and 9.25’’ (235 mm) height.

The Santisima Trinidad or Holy Trinity (officially Our Lady of the Holy Trinity) was a Spanish ship. It was the largest during the end of the 17th century and the beginning of the 18th century. It had 120 guns at the beginning, which were later expanded to 140. The Santisima Trinidad was one of the few ships of line of four bridges that existed. Symbol of the power of Spain on the seas, this ship had a tragic end. Firstly, It was defeated on the Battle of Trafalgar. Secondly, it sank when it was towed to Gibraltar by the English.
