The 1/72 scale model of one of the pink diamonds of naval modeling, built and launched in the 17th century by order of the French King Louis XIV. The majestic Gallic warship Soleil Royal is your new challenge. This famous ship of the line with 104 guns was born between 1668 and 1670 in Brest thanks to the engineer Laurent Hubac.

Interestingly, it remained unused in the port of that town for a long time. It sailed the seas again during the Nine Years’ War in 1688, already with 112 guns and 1,200 crewmen. Its role was essential as the flagship of the Escadre du Pont (Squadron of the West) and Admiral Tourville. Its baroque decoration is simply one of the most beautiful and spectacular of the time.

It was fundamental, precisely, in the battle that bears the same name against the English, although it was launched at the end of the 18th century.

This marvelous vessel with three decks was part of a series of ships called Meregildos, the Santa Ana was the pioneer. It had 112 guns, although more were added later along with other weapons. It was one of the banners of the Spanish Armada, but it sank in Havana when trying to hide the French.

The 1/65 scale model of a jewel of naval modeling created in the 17th century: the Swedish bronze warship with 64 guns called Vasa, which is part of the naval history of your country, Europe and the planet: it sank within a kilometer of being launched in 1628 after an economic outlay and use of enormous natural resources by King Gustav II, who wanted the ship to participate in the Thirty Years’ War. It was the most powerful of its time until the US Constitution frigate appeared.

R/C Tugboat Model Sanson: 2023 Edition of the 1:50 Scale Replica Now Suitable for Radio Control and Lighting

After several years out of stock and off the market, the spectacular new edition of the deep-sea tugboat model ship is back, suitable for R/C or radio control, Sanson (20415). Our team of professional modelers and 3D designers have worked hard to exponentially improve this 1:50 scale model. A classic for any naval modeling collection. “You won’t have the slightest setback when it comes to building it”, assures one of Artesanía Latina members.

Sanson still is a faithful miniature replica of a tugboat from the 40s of the 20th century. However, its renewed assembly experience makes this boat a delight to build. The best thing is that, in addition to being prepared for radio control, it is also ready to light up, to include motor and servo, and… To be navigable thanks to the experience of the modeler who knows and decides to do it! We present the new model of the R/C tugboat Sanson on the video below, your jaw will drop at such beauty, such jewel of the naval modeling. Be dazzled!

R/C TUGBOAT MODEL SANSON: MORE REALISM

The model of the tugboat suitable for R/C Sanson is aimed at modelers with an intermediate level, at least. However, a beginner, with patience and paying close attention, could also assemble it since the instructions are on video. The different steps are explained in detail. The new guide on DVD is like a masterclass given by our modeller… A joy! As we mentioned in the introduction, your assembly experience is much more enjoyable and less difficult.

In addition, the model is much more realistic compared to its old version, thanks to three important improvements made and commented, among many others. In this sense, the Artesanía Latina team has completely emptied the structure of the model of the tugboat. The hull of the boat allows it to be both a static and R/C model by having the hollowed-out ribs and by offering a comfortable access to the interior. Please pay attention to the below images about it!

Our model has the stern deck is openable, that is, when we remove the support arches for the cables from their anchoring places, we can ‘disengage’ a part of the stern deck, access the interior of the hull to be able to work comfortably and, later, refit these parts without noticing anything unusual.

As you can see, you can add an engine to it to navigate. On our website, you can purchase a Low RPM Motor (27591) to move the propeller only during the exhibition of the model -this engine is not suitable for navigation-, for sale separately.

And we end… With another unbeatable surprise for our modelers friends! The renovated French corsair model ship in wood Le Renard (22401). At 1:50 scale, this faithful miniature replica of the Galic cutter is recommended for fans of this hobby with at least an intermediate level of skills and knowledge.

The renewed wooden naval modeling kit of the famous Spanish ship of the line Santa Ana at 1:84 scale was the prototype of a series of 8 identical vessels that would constitute the nerve of the Armada. Waterline Marker for Model Ships: Indispensable Naval Modeling Tool for Boat Hulls

Our modelers friends had been asking us for a waterline marker from our house, from Artesania Latina. They know of the extensive experience of our firm in the creation of effective and efficient ship modeling tools. After our 3D computer designers and our modelers developed a very conscientious joint work, we present our Waterline Marker (27649). We always read the opinions of our customers and fellow fans very seriously!

The waterline marker is one of the most necessary modeling tools during model ship building. This very useful product allows the modeler to mark that line around the ship, also thanks to the pencil included. Includes measurements in both metric and imperial systems. In this sense, it is 23 centimeters or 9 inches tall to be able to perform tasks on different naval miniatures depending on its size. In addition, it has a mechanism that makes it easy to raise, lower and fix the pencil to paint the line where your scale model demands, it is adjustable in height.

The waterline marker is made from precision laser cut plywood parts so assembly is a breeze. We recommend the use of dense cyanoacrylate and accelerator (27650) -sold separately- to glue the different pieces, fix them so that they are much more stable. In short, it makes it easy to mark the line on the hull of the ship model with total precision. In general, it can be used as a gauge to mark lines parallel to the work surface. But… How do you use the waterline marker correctly?

HOW TO USE THE WATERLINE MARKER

First of all, to maintain the ship models stable, position the ship’s keel well on its exhibition base or on our hull support (27011) for models with false keel up to 15.748” (400mm), for sale separately. The stern and bow must be balanced at the proper heights.

On the other hand, the waterline marker helps us navigate by painting the ship from bow to stern to trace that mark. In this way, the waterline is always it remains at the same height and the finishes will be much better when it comes to varnishing or painting with colors. When the ship is positioned, use a level you have at your workshop so that the naval model is also balanced from port to starboard.

Consult the assembly instructions of the vessel. Be sure of the height at which you should paint the water line. Place marker and pencil at desired height without painting. When you’re in the right place, move the marker from bow to stern while paying attention to where the pencil goes. After making that run and you are at the stern, see if that is where you have to start and end the line. If this is not the case, tilt the naval model slightly from the bow or stern to bring it into its correct position.

Now you can plot. Place the pencil against the hull of the ship. Do not force anything and move the marker making sure that the lower base does not rise from where it rests. The fixing wedge that the height tool has will help you to keep the pencil completely in its straight position. Even so press little so that the line is perfect. And ready! Fast and easy!

HISTORY OF BLUENOSE SCHOONER: THE FASTEST SAILBOAT

Its name is due to the nickname given to the inhabitants of Nova Scotia (blue nose), where the schooner was launched on March 26, 1921. In this sense, it was built at the Smith & Rhuland.

The Bluenose was operating in the Grand Banks region along with dozens of other vessels. This is a peculiar area of the North Atlantic, comprised between the coast of Canada and Labrador. It is subject to periodic mists that make it an Eden for fishermen. There, hake, cod, salmon and tuna are found in prodigious quantities. That is why this schooner is also known as ‘The Queen of the Grand Banks’.

He was going to fish in Newfoundland waters but his destiny changed. It was seen that this fast schooner won all the regattas that were organized on the east coast of the United States. These fishing boats, especially because of their sails, are conditioned to reach great speed.

Thus, the Bluenose was winner of the North Atlantic International Fishermen’s Trophy in all the races held between 1920 and 1938. Captain Angus Walter, at the forefront. In 1942, despite the efforts of this captain and many others who tried to keep the ship in Nova Scotia, the Bluenose was sold to carry cargo in the West Indies. On January 28, 1946, when running aground on a coral reef off the coast of Haiti.
